URooms User Guide
URooms is a service in InfoHub providing information to staff about the configuration and planned use of rooms in the University Shared Teaching Room portfolio. IT Services worked in conjunction with Teaching & Learning and Estate Services to develop this very useful guide. URooms contains Information on room capacity, furniture configuration and equipment, displayed alongside the real-time availability for each shared room managed by Estate Services. Pedagogical guidelines have been developed by Teaching & Learning to assist Faculty in the the design, delivery and support of graduate/undergraduate academic programmes. Each room is linked to Google Maps to help users of mobile devices navigate to the building. A photograph of the room provides an image of the room layout. An information sheet will be installed in every room so that staff and students can check the availability of the room on that day by typing a URL into their phones. An example of this is www.ucd.ie/rooms/g5dae. All rooms have a similar URL in the format www.ucd.ie/rooms/xxxx where xxxx is the room name. URooms is also available in InfoHub on the Campus tab. Staff can use their UCD Connect login details to access additional information in URooms on planned room use over the next 28 days. This service will provide staff with direct on-line access to room availability information and will support enhanced planning of activities. By logging onto URooms, staff can quickly identify if a particular room is available at a specific time, or identify the other similar alternative rooms which might be available. To process the booking request, staff should contact room.allocations@ucd.ie. Please allow at least one full working day for your booking to be processed. Due to the ongoing dynamic nature of the room booking process, please note that a Booking ID issued by Room Allocations is required to confirm booking. Students are advised to contact estates@ucd.ie if they wish to book a room in the University Shared Teaching Room portfolio for society, club or other activities. The next phase of the URooms initiative will incorporate an on-line room booking system for ad-hoc seminars and meetings. It will also provide an option to display planned use of locally managed rooms, where appropriate. Feedback and suggestions on how we can continue to enhance our support of the University community are welcome. For any queries related to:
