MaterialSc EngineeringStream - Engineering Science (4-stage) (NTS1)

Engineering Science Stage 4 Materials Science Engineering Stream is a 60 Credit undergraduate year of study. Following successful completion of Stage 4, students will progress into Year 2 of their Master of Engineering (ME) Programme, and modules from Stage 4 will be mapped forward in place of Year 1 of the ME. Students may need to consult with the Programme Coordinator before registering to their modules.

Stage 4

Engineering Science Stage 4 Materials Science Engineering Stream is a 60 Credit undergraduate year of study.*** Following successful completion of Stage 4, students will progress into Stage 2 (Year 2) of their Master of Engineering (ME) Programme, and modules from Stage 4 will be mapped forward in place of Year 1 of the ME. *** Students may need to consult with the Programme Director before registering to their modules.

Autumn Trimester MSE Stage 4:

Students must select 30 credits, i.e. 6 x 5 cr modules in the Autumn Trimester.

Spring Trimester MSE Stage 4:

Students must register for 30 credits which will be either the Long Professional Work Placement MEEN40760 (30 credits), OR the Short Professional Work Placement MEEN40750 (10 credits), along with 4 x 5-cr modules.

If not previously taken they must be completed in either Year 1 or Year 2 of the ME (Materials Science & Engineering) programme.

SPRING OPTIONS WITH SHORT PWE: Students who are taking MEEN40750 (PWE Short) MUST select and complete 4 Option Modules (total of 20 credits) in the Spring Trimester.*** The modules MEEN40430, MEEN40110 and MEEN41150 are REQUIRED Modules for the ME (Materials Science & Engineering) and must be completed to be eligible for the ME Degree. ***Students may select one 5-credit engineering or engineering- related module to be agreed with the relevant Module Coordinator and the Programme Director and the approval of the Engineering Programme Board.
