In your first year, you will be introduced to the science of medicine which underpins our clinical curriculum. You will learn about how the body works, why and how things go wrong, and how to treat and manage disease and ill-health. Teaching methods include small group sessions, practicals and enquiry-based tutorials. You will also be introduced to ethical, societal and technological issues relevant to the practice of medicine.
Your first year is also an opportunity to explore the diversity of university life. Not only can you design your own degree with electives from across UCD, but you will enjoy a student experience that includes almost 100 student societies, 55 sports clubs and a state-of-the-art student sports centre.
