LGBTI Pride Month: How To Be An Ally

General Information

LGBTI Pride Month: How To Be An Ally:

In association with Dublin LGBTQ Pride and the Pride at Work training programme, we are delighted to host a workshop for all staff entitled "How To Be An Ally".

This one hour workshop will aim to show people how they can make a huge difference through everyday acts of kindness. Being an LGBTQ+ ally can make a huge difference for those in the workplace, as well as in everyday life, whether you show your allyship by showing up to Pride Parades or just standing up against homophobia or transphobia. It is super easy too – but sometimes we may worry about using our voices in case we offend or say the wrong thing. Join us as we go through talking about the power of allies, confronting our own bias and identifying hurtful or damaging language. This will be an interactive session, consisting of a presentation and Q&A , with interactive elements throughout the workshop to encourage attendees to join the conversation.

The session will be facilitated by Christelle "Chris" Gebhardt (they/them). Christelle joined the Dublin Pride Team in November 2020 after graduating from UCD with an MA in Cultural Policy & Arts Management. Initially starting as Communications Assistant, Chris has since taken on the role of Cultural Programming & DEIB Training Manager at Pride. Over the years, they've worked with various arts organisations, festivals and non-profits in their native Austria, Germany and Ireland.

The session is open to all staff and will take place online via Zoom on Thursday 23rd June from 3pm-4pm. Places are limited so we encourage you to book in advance. Zoom Details will be circulated closer to the date and if you are unable to attend after registering, please contact edi@ucd.ie

Please note that you must be logged into InfoHub to avail of the Book Now function.
