Introduction to Risk Assessment Training Course

Risk Assessment Workshop

Aimed at: Faculty, Staff, Technical Officers and Postgraduate Researchers

This course is suitable for all staff and postgraduate researchers who are responsible for or involved in the completion of risk assessments for their area.

Objectives:

At the end of the course participants will have an understanding of the legislative requirements, the available UCD resources and will be able to conduct a risk assessment for their area. During this workshop, participants will work in groups through different workplace scenarios to develop a risk assessment.  

Contents:

  • Health and Safety Legislation
  • Risk Assessment Process
  • Available resources, templates and sample risk assessments
  • Complete a risk assessment for different workplace scenarios

 

Duration:  90 minutes

Format: Participants must view a short video on risk assessments in advance of the workshop (this will be issued in advance of the workshop). The workshop will revise the key information on workplace safety, the legislative environment and the risk assessment process. Participants will then be given a workplace scenario to work through in groups and complete a risk assessment, presenting their findings.  The scenarios will cover a range of workplace hazards, including chemical, biological, fieldwork, machinery and manual handling.
