Long Description: The German-Irish Lawyers and Business Association (GILBA), founded in 1988, is a bilateral professional association, which provides a forum for the exchange of information and expertise for those working in the fields of accountancy, tax consultancy, law and business and seeks to foster and enhance personal and professional links between its German and Irish members. UCD degree programmes such as the Bachelor of Commerce International with German and the BA degree in German and Economics equip graduates with a refined and highly sought-after skill set, combining linguistic proficiency, intercultural and critical awareness and in-depth understanding of the worlds of economics and commerce. UCD graduates from these programmes are therefore the next generation of business professionals and, in keeping with their mission, GILBA wishes to recognize excellence in this cohort of students by awarding an annual prize and medal.
