Title: Michéal Mac Cárthaigh Academic Performance Award
Award Type: Award
Programme Description:
Long Description: Michéal Mac Cárthaigh was a graduate of the UCD Bachelor of Engineering degree programme in 1975, and a graduate of our Master of Engineering Science programme in 1997. Michéal sadly passed away in 2012.

Michéal’s wife, Sorcha Quigley would like to donate funding to UCD for the establishment of an award in memory of her husband. Michéal worked in the Environmental Protection Agency, in the areas of water quality, hydrology and environmental engineering. He worked on projects with our Centre for Water Resources Research (CWRR), and was a peer of our faculty member Professor Michael Bruen. Michéal was a proud graduate of UCD, and was the first in his family to attend university.
The School is very grateful for the generous donation, which will fund this academic performance award for a period of 5 years. The first of five awards will be made in September 2023.
