Long Description: This prize in Architecture has been endowed by the Educational Building Society as a tribute to Mr Alasdair McCabe, the founder and former Managing Director of the Society. The prize will be awarded annually to a student of Architecture to enable the student to undertake a programme of study in the Summer vacation of either third or fourth year on some aspect of housing, to be selected by the applicant. Students who wish to be considered for the award must submit a programme of study to the Chair of the Architecture Programme Board by the specified date in the year in which they sit for the Third University Examination. The applicants will be interviewed by a board consisting of intern and extern examiners. The award will be based on the systematic and practical work of the candidates. The prize of approximately €953 will be paid as follows: €635 when the winner takes up the award, the balance to be paid on the receipt of a satisfactory report which should be submitted to the Chair of the Architecture Programme Board by the opening of the following session. In the event of the prize being withheld in any year, the prize money shall be added to the capital sum.
