Long Description:	This medal is named in honour of the late Alan Harrison, a tireless supporter of mature, part-time and evening degree students at UCD for many years. Alan was a leading scholar of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Irish literature and culture, but also, in his role as Associate Dean for Evening Students in Arts, a champion for evening and mature students and one who delighted to see such students achieve the highest academic honours. The award is to be presented on an annual basis to the student who achieves the highest grade in the BA degree examination (where the BA is the candidate’s first degree) who entered the degree as a mature student. The medal will be presented annually at the University Awards Day.
