Long Description:	This medal is in memory of Professor P.A. McGeady, Dean of the UCD Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from 1960 to 1972 and Professor of Veterinary Surgery, Obstetrics and Infertility from 1946 until his retirement in 1976. His family have established this medal as a tribute to Professor McGeady's contribution to the discipline of Veterinary Surgery at UCD, his skills in teaching and his involvement in veterinary education during a period of considerable change. The medal is awarded annually to the candidate who at his/her first sitting at the Final University Examinations in Veterinary Medicine obtains the highest grade in Large Animal Surgery.
