Long Description: The UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science has provided a Professional Work Experience (PWE) programme for over 60 years. The School recognises the importance of PWE in the education and training of its undergraduate students who take that module for academic credit, working in a multitude of environments across the agriculture, food, nutrition and environmental sectors in Ireland and abroad.
Stage 3 BAgrSc, BSc Food Science and BSc Human Nutrition students undertaking the Professional Work Experience module will be automatically eligible for consideration for the UCD PWE Excellence Awards. Up to 15 students from across the participating degree programmes will be recommended on academic merit for a School PWE Excellence Certificate. Of this cohort, four candidates will be recommended for a monetary prize associated with The Colman (Colm) O’Loghlen PWE Excellence Awards and one candidate will be recommended for a monetary prize associated with the the Agricultural Trust PWE Excellence Award. These monetary prizes will be determined by a board of assessors (internal and external) following submission by Certificate winners of a summary document outlining their PWE experience, plus an interview.
