Long Description: This medal commemorates Arthur W. Conway (1875-1950), Professor of Mathematical Physics in the University, Registrar (1908-1940) and President (1940-1947). Professor Conway was a Fellow of the Royal Society and a member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and President of the Royal Irish Academy (1937-1940). He made fundamental contributions to electromagnetism, relativity, atomic physics, quantum mechanics, partial differential equations and in the applications of quaternions.

The medal is awarded to the student who obtains First Class Honours (3.68 GPA or higher) in the BSc Honours Degree and who obtains the highest average mark in five of their Stage 4 modules in Applied & Computational Mathematics.
