MIS4016S Management Support Systems

This course studies the range of information systems needed to provide support for management in decision-making, planning and control. The starting point, therefore, is the set of potential managerial problems and opportunities, and the associated information requirements. Organisational diagnostics are considered for problem/opportunity identification. Solution approaches are developed and used as the basis for describing the structure, characteristics and management of generic categories of systems such as Decision Support Systems (DSS), Executive Information Systems (EIS) and Expert Systems (ES). The management implications of knowledge-based systems will be covered, and students will be asked to develop an application through an Expert System shell.Show/hide contentOpenClose All
