BMGT4061S Global Strategic Management

Academic Year 2023/2024

Strategic management is concerned with helping practitioners to identify, anticipate and respond to the opportunities and challenges faced when attempting to secure the long run viability of their organisations. This module seeks to provide participants with a grounding in the basic theoretical frameworks and analytical techniques that aid strategic management. We will cover four core topics, including (1) the nature and origin of good strategy, (2) the external and internal environments within which an organisation’s strategy is developed, (3) how and where the organisation competes, and (4) strategy implementation. In focusing on the international arenas, we will examine some of the opportunities and challenges associated with competing and expanding in international markets. We will also explore the key considerations for structuring and organising the international activities of firms.
