BMGT45440 Innovation: Disruption &Design

Academic Year 2023/2024

We live in a period of profound transformations and disruptions. This module equips students with a careful understanding of the disruption process which is frequently misunderstood. We do so by combining cutting-edge research, current business trends, case studies, and group projects. The module also introduces students to the notions of design and design thinking as solutions to the innovation problem and integrations of the disruption process.

During the module we take the perspective of new players willing to disrupt, established organizations attempting to respond to disruption, and industry actors in the surrounding ecosystem. We distinguish between technology, market, and business model disruptions, and provide compelling evidence of design strategies for creating new solution and disrupting existing ones. We also rely on a vast array of industry contexts.
