BMGT43470 Competitive and Corporate Strategy

Academic Year 2023/2024

A central purpose of strategy is to ensure long-term viability of a firm while optimising its economic performance. This module focuses on the main theoretical principles that explain firms’ strategies and guide firms’ choices in the creation of value. Emphasis will be put on applying these principles, along with the concepts and techniques of strategic analysis, to actual company and industry situations through the use of case studies. We will also engage in critical thinking to expose the limits of the applicability of the theoretical principles and techniques of strategy. In doing so, we will consider a variety of stakeholder-related, environmental, social implications of strategy.
