This module aims to provide students with a foundation in the corporate and managerial financial decisions encountered by firms, with particular focus on the Aviation Finance Industry. Corporate Finance is concerned with how firms raise, manage and spend money. On completing this module students will have an understanding of the role of the financial manager in a company in appraising investments, quantifying the risk/return relationship, evaluating sources of company funding, setting dividend policy and undertaking mergers and acquisitions.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should: -
1. Understand why shareholder wealth maximisation is considered to be the primary objective of a firm.
2. Achieve a good practical and theoretical understanding of:
(i) the financing decision,
(ii) the investment decision, and
(iii) the dividend decision.
3. Develop an understanding of functional financial decisions, such as mergers and asset valuation.
4. Appreciate the corporate underpinnings of aviation and airline finance.
