HRM40600 Developing Competencies for HR

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module is primarily intended for postgraduate students intending to pursue a career in Human Resource Management (HRM), who have not yet had the opportunity to gain HR work-related experience. The module aims to provide students with an opportunity to develop competencies in areas such as: selection interviewing; performance management; grievance and discipline handling;and the development and dissemination of HR policies.

Learning Outcomes:

"On completing this module students should:*Have developed some of the skills that are routinely used when managing HR in an organisation (e.g. selection interviewing, grievance handling)*Be able to formulate the most appropriate HR policies for an organisation and discuss the rationale that underpins their recommendations*Demonstrate the value of effectively implementing good HR practices."

Students undertaking this module should have some understanding of human resource management and should therefore have successfully completed a HRM course at either undergraduate or postgraduate level.
