This module provides an introduction to Sports & Performance Analytics, its history, foundations, and the contemporary developments in the field. Students will gain an understanding of how analytics is applied to solve problems, provide insights and support decisions in the sports performance domain.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module students should be able to:

- Explain and critique the theory, growth, and application of analytics in sports
- Outline the principal applications of analytics in sport, including evaluating performance, rating players, planning training activities, monitoring athletes and devising playing strategies
- Apply analytical methods to solve sports performance problems
- Conduct a team or athlete performance analysis
- Produce engaging reports and data visualisations
