The Graduate Diploma programme in Nua-Ghaeilge is aimed at graduates of Modern Irish and graduates of cognate disciplines. The aim of this programme is to promote and preserve the Irish language, literature and culture and emphasise their importance for Irish society and European Identity. Students will develop advanced linguistic skills in Irish and deepen their knowledge of Irish-language literature, culture and history.
This programme prepares students for a broad range of career paths, including Education in Ireland and abroad and public service. Students are assisted to develop communicative, analytical skills throughout the programme.
We promote autonomous and collaborative learning by providing a vibrant academic environment for the teaching and use of the Irish language, supported by our multi-media language learning centre and our Student Space (An Seomra Caidrimh) to encourage Irish language usage amongst the student body. All teaching and communication is conducted through the medium of Irish and in small groups. This programme uses teaching, learning and assessment approaches such as oral, written examinations, project work, essays and presentations in the delivery of the curriculum.
