This programme is aimed to equip Primary Care Nurses with the ethos founded on the principles of primary health care. The Programme is open to Primary Care Nurses working either as Practice Nurses working in General Practice or Community Nurses working in Public Health Nursing services. We value the student's broad concrete experience. We, therefore, encourage them to be active, motivated, autonomous learners who have a critical and reflective approach to Primary Health Care. The Programme will emphasize the knowledge development and critical capacities for evidence-informed practice and a range of competencies to meet the demands of the nursing role in Primary Care and to enable role expansion within the scope of nursing practice.

We aim to provide a learning environment that encourages students to challenge the nurse’s role in Primary care constructively, either individually or as a team, to develop their own and others’ leadership and advocacy skills. Webinars, self-directed clinical practice, and autonomous and self-directed learning are key elements in the programme’s design. In this approach to learning, the programme uses teaching, learning, and assessment approaches such as a quality improvement project, literature review, reflective practice, advanced health assessment, group work, case reports and using technology platforms for effective learning
