In this module, students will attend the University Veterinary Hospital (UCDVH) on core rotations throughout the year. Students will work alongside final year veterinary medicine students, hospital veterinary nursing staff, and veterinary specialists. Students will be attending core rotations (under the supervision of veterinary nurses and other UCDVH staff) in the following areas: Large Animal Surgery, Small Animal Surgery, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Unit and the Central Sterilisation Supply Unit. During these rotations, students will be exposed to referral cases encompassing both basic and advanced veterinary nursing skills.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate practical veterinary nursing skills
- Effectively communicate with veterinary and support staff, clients, and fellow students;
- Integrate veterinary nursing knowledge and skills to effectively provide care for hospitalized patients in a referral hospital setting

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will engage in case-based learning activities and practice clinical and professional skills associated with patient care in a referral veterinary hospital. Students will engage in patient rounds, case-based discussions, and direct observation of procedures (formative assessment).
