VNUR10300 VN Clinical Placement S1

Academic Year 2022/2023

This module will provide the student with initial veterinary practice and patient contact experience and is designed to facilitate the integration of first-year knowledge and practice in a clinical setting. Students will be able to practice and develop clinical skills associated with veterinary nursing in the clinical skills centre prior to placement.
The VN Stage 1 clinical placement is 2 weeks in duration and occurs in March of the spring trimester. Preparation for the placement will take place in UCD in the autumn trimester.
Prior to commencing the external placement at a veterinary hospital or clinic, students must have completed their manual handling and clinical skills training. The student must successfully complete the full duration of practice placement and assignments before a passing grade can be awarded.
The module is a pass-fail module.
