This is a graduate level research project in statistics. The student will have the opportunity to study some significant research question in statistics or a statistical application. The student will be expected to write a thesis giving an original exposition of the topic which should demonstrate in-depth mastery of a significant part of statistics, or give an exposition of a substantial statistical application which will include the model fitting process, interpretation of the results and conclusions.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this project the student will have

a) gained an in-depth understanding of a significant topic in research statistics;

b) given an original written exposition of the topic including the necessary statistical background or show its application to a substantial applied problem;

c) given an oral presentation of a significant statistics topic and/or its application.

Indicative Module Content:

This is a graduate level research project in statistics. The student will have the opportunity to address a significant question in statistics research or a statistical application.
