AFS students gain practical work experience. Students are required to complete a 6-month placement.Those interested in pursuing an actuarial career often take their placement with an insurance company (life, general or reinsurance) or consulting firm. Those interested in banking, finance or investment often complete their placement with a bank or asset manager.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

They will depend on the specific placement but should include most of the following:-Apply technical skills to validate and / or analyse data, build models and analyse and validate results from models, perform checks, communicate through oral and written reports, develop understanding of professional responsibility and accountability, understand customer viewpoint, understand general business environment, understand specific business products and processes, demonstrate ability to use variety of IT systems effectively, demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team
