SSCI20020 Career Develop Social Sciences

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module is designed for Social Science students to facilitate their personal and professional development. Students will develop an understanding of what it is that motivates them and their own unique strengths so that they can find fulfilment in the workplace. Students will learn about career options available to social science graduates and approaches they can utilise to independently research these possibilities. The benefits of gaining experience through internships and volunteering will be explored and ways to source an internship will be examined. Students will create a career action plan and will learn how to navigate recruitment processes, gaining practical experience of CV preparation and interviews. Throughout this module students will develop their employability skills including team work and collaboration, effective communication, and commercial awareness.
