The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the range and scope of social policy analysis by showing how the subject has developed over time. The module covers the history and development of Irish social policy. It examines how social change has influenced and has been influenced by social policy developments since the nineteenth century.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course the student will have a grounding in the history and development of Irish social policy, on the interrelationship between social change and social policy in the Irish case, on the evolution of the Irish mixed economy of welfare.

The student will also have developed skills in reading and contextualising books, articles and research reports.
