Learning Outcomes:

On satisfactory completion of this module, according to the descriptors of CEFR students should be able to:

1. Read and understand texts of relative complexity about daily life and topics related with his/her interests with a common and standard language and the key ideas of a discourse of standard language about familiar themes such as work, leisure, study (among others)

2. Speak in a simple and coherent manner, with a certain degree of spontaneity, fluidity and intelligible pronunciation about themes that they are interested in or familiar with.

3. Link sentences in a simple manner with broad lexicon and phraseology.

4. Write simple, clear  and intelligible texts with a sufficient use of structures using a fair range of expressions with good orthography.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:

Teaching and Learning approaches deployed consist of active/task-based learning enhanced with Virtual Learning Environment (Brightspace).

Students are expected to engage in self-learning activities every week, such as, reading and listening to materials relating to the course modules; completing tasks and exercises (including grammar).

Oral interaction in class is expected.

Engagement with Virtual Learning Environment to solve any doubts or issues.

Students may not use generative AI to complete any assessments in the module. They must demonstrate their core knowledge and language skills. However, they may use AI tools for limited support in this module (e.g. idea generation or as a study aid). Any use of AI must be cited appropriately.
