Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module is designed to enhance the student’s understanding of, and participation in, interpersonal relationships and will challenge him/her to examine personal and social response to particular circumstances, behaviours and attitudes. Intrapersonal development is also considered within the module through developing the students understanding of their personality traits with a view to developing their self-awareness. The course also covers skills for effective interpersonal communication with others as well as addressing communication breakdown and conflict resolution within the workplace. Networking, team-working, and engagement in continuing professional development are prerequisites for career success and these are also considered within the module. Integrity and ethics are also considered within the module given their growing importance within organisations today. Teamwork is used within the module during lectures to apply new knowledge and skills, including conflict resolution skills and this approach will ensure practical as well as theoretical development of teamwork and interpersonal skills. The interactive dynamic of team work makes attendance essential. Reflection is key to personal and professional development and students will be encouraged to reflect on their experiences, and their learning, throughout the module.
