MALI Option Language module for Italian complete Beginners (Level A1 on CEFR scale) students.
Scheduled for T1 (autumn) trimester.

65% of this module grafts onto Italian Language undergrad modules, for which MALI students should be registered as AUDITOR (not usual registration).
35% of this module comprises a MALI Presentation.

MA in Languages and Image Studies students must be registered to this module by the MALI Programme Director only.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Students should have mastered the same skills as per undergraduate modules at level A1 on CEFR scale.

Students should also have worked with their MALI Language Tutor on honing language skills and on preparing an image-centred Presentation

Indicative Module Content:

See Italian undergraduate modules at level A1 on CEFR scale.

Students will work weekly with their MALI Language Tutor to hone language skills and to prepare a final image-centred Presentation on either film or media relating to the culture of their chosen language, pitched at the relevant language level studied.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Variety of language-teaching methods used. These may include active/task-based learning; peer and group work; lectures; critical writing; reflective learning; individual work with MALI tutor; enquiry & problem-based learning; student presentations, etc.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Students are followed closely by their Language Tutor for 10 sessions during the trimester and will receive regular individual feedback on progress. Students will also receive feedback on language work completed within the framework of their classroom language work.
