Curricular information is subject to change.

There is no UCD teaching on this remote module for Stage 3 B Ed students on Erasmus exchange in the Spring Trimester, and passing it is one of the core requirements of the exchange. Its purpose is to reflect on the experience of living and studying in the host country, drawing on the students’ socio-cultural experience and target-language awareness. In addition to students’ participation in their respective academic programmes, they are expected to become involved in extra-curricular, social and cultural activities conducted in the target language. Students are encouraged to take part in any tandem language-learning activities on offer.
Assessment will be completed in the target language. Online dictionaries may be used to consult single words or phrases, but you may not use Google Translate or AI to do the work for you. Independent work in the target language will help you to improve your written and oral language skills, and will stand to you when you enter Stage 4, where the majority of the assessment consists of exams without dictionaries.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
There is no formal teaching for this module by lectures or tutors. Learning is done independently by students who are guided by the module coordinator via the VLE. Students receive a number of tasks that they have to complete during the semester and the module coordinator provides support to facilitate students' self-directed learning in order to complete and submit each task.

Since all the assignments in this module revolve around personal experiences and personal insights, they are red on UCD's AI traffic light system, i.e. you must not use generative AI in this assignment for any purpose, above all for writing scripts. Plagiarism will result in immediate failure of the respective assignment.
