SBUS45730 Professional Impact Project

Academic Year 2021/2022


This professional impact project asks students to apply academic-based business knowledge as well as incompany experience to an applied, real-life business challenge/opportunity. The project is jointly designed and supported by UCD Smurfit School lecturers and the Bord Bia. Students are expected to work in teams and complete the project using the information available to them as well as any other useful sources. Students are expected to manage the process with a high level of autonomy and to use the module coordinator for advice and support as appropriate. The supervision of the projects will vary from project to project but includes a series of regular meetings with the module co-ordinator and regular interaction with the sponsor from Bord Bia.

Learning Outcomes:

On completing this task students will be expected to be able to identify recommendations/solutions to a business challenge/opportunity presented by the client company. They use all available sources of data, including primary research, to inform and provide context for their project. Using their own initiative and working in teams students prepare, submit and present [in writing and orally] a business project report [using an appropriate format] .Students are offered the opportunity to gain insight into business life, to train their analytical and problem-solving skills, to apply research methods, to develop their written and oral presentation skills, to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice, to learn teamwork and process management skills.
