Building on insights generated in the first module, this module addresses the variety of business level and corporate strategies pursued in the industry. Particular attention is directed at the linkages between strategy and organizational culture in life science organisations; competitive positioning in dynamic markets and the importance of alliances and M&A in the industry. Issues around developing and protecting capabilities are also dealt with in this industry.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module has a detailed study guide. Students are required to complete the module pre-reading or pre-work prior to attending the seminar sessions. The sessions themselves will be a combination of lectures, group discussion, in-class presentations, case study discussions and classroom exercises. A heavy emphasis in the seminars is on teasing out the implications of theory for practical application in a workplace context.
