This module focuses on the application of coaching psychology to business and executive coaching. Through reflective practice students will critically evaluate theories, concepts, skills and techniques of a variety of psychological approaches. They will receive feedback on their practice from peers and tutors.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module students will be able to demonstrate:A critical understanding of the application of theories and concepts of coaching psychology to their professional practice. The capability, through reflective practice, to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of their interventions. Understanding of the difference between coaching and other interventions, particularly therapeutic interventions, how to identify limits to their competence and the process of referral.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module has a detailed study guide. Students are required to complete the module pre-reading or pre-work prior to attending the seminar sessions. The sessions themselves will be a combination of lectures, group discussion, in-class presentations, case study discussions and classroom exercises. A heavy emphasis in the seminars is on teasing out the implications of theory for practical application in a workplace context.
