This module explores the significance of coaching psychology for the personal and professional development of the coach. Students will critically consider their ‘presence’ and involvement with clients through the lens of the approaches, theories and concepts of coaching psychology, with the intention of enhancing their practice.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module students will be able to demonstrate:A critical understanding of coaching psychology for the personal and professional development of their practice. The personal relevance of the key approaches, theories and concepts of coaching psychology and the significance of this for their coaching practice. Critical self-awareness through feedback from tutors and peers of their presence and its impact on others.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The module has a detailed study guide. Students are required to complete the module pre-reading or pre-work prior to attending the seminar sessions. The sessions themselves will be a combination of lectures, group discussion, in-class presentations, case study discussions and classroom exercises. A heavy emphasis in the seminars is on teasing out the implications of theory for practical application in a workplace context.
