RDGY30670 Clinical Practice 2: GER

Academic Year 2022/2023

Second year graduate entry radiography students will follow a clinical rotation to specific areas related to taught syllabus.
By the end of second year, each student will be expected to work competently in all general areas of the Imaging Department including A+E, Theatre and DEXA under distant supervision.
Students will also get an opportunity to visit specialist imaging modalities such as Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, MRI and Radionuclide Imaging.
Clinical staff will monitor each students progress, assisting with specific difficulties, and helping the individual develop confidence in each area of competency.
Full attendance at clinical placement is compulsory and any missed clinical placement time must be rectified as per CORU requirement.

Learning Outcomes:

Knowledge Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module, the student should be able to:
-Competently perform a wide range of general and specialised radiographic examinations in the A+E setting covered throughout the programme.
-Competently perform a non-contrast brain CT scan
-Competently perform a DEXA examination
-Competently perform screening for a theatre case
-Accurately evaluate image quality and radiographic outcomes for a variety of examinations.

Professional Skills:
-Adapt technique depending on the patient presentation and clinical environment.
-Critically evaluate the utility of imaging examinations to patient management.

Personal / Professional Development:
-Perform as an effective member of the imaging department team.
-Demonstrate knowledge of the range of modalities within a modern imaging department and their appropriate application to particular pathologies or anatomical areas.
-Demonstrate personal ability to care for patients in a variety of radiographic examinations.
