Curricular information is subject to change.

This module provides the student with the fundamental knowledge that underpins the clinical practice, technology and image processing in Nuclear Medicine and PETCT imaging. The module is comprised of a series of lectures. The theoretical learning on this module is supported by the use of clincial images, and annoymised case studies.
The syllabus will encourage you to consider technological and clinical practice issues to include:
Components of Nuclear Medicine and PET equipment, principles of imaging; radiopharmacy; radionuclides; safety issues; QA; future developments. Lectures in both Nuclear Medicine and PET will cover the common examinations performed in both imaging sub specialities and incorporate an array of case studies to demonstrate clinical applications. Patient care and preparation, clinical indications, scan protocols, and basic image appearances will be considered for a range of anatomical areas. Best practice guidelines will be discussed and there will be inclusion of the current research for topics taught.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

1. Discuss the principles of RNI and PETCT imaging;
2. Discuss Radiopharmacy practice and QA;
3. Understand radiation issues in RNI and PETCT;
