This module provides opportunities for students to develop competence when performing X-ray examinations in all general areas of the diagnostic imaging department. During approximately four weeks of clinical placement, students will undertake a range of general radiographic examinations of patients under the supervision of qualified clinical staff. In addition, students will be introduced to the areas of theatre, fluoroscopy and mobile radiography. As a result students will develop skills that enable their useful contribution to clinical practice in these areas and should be able to perform or assist with a range of patient care and support duties. Clinical staff will monitor each student's progress, assisting with specific difficulties and helping the individual develop each of these areas of competency. Full attendance at clinical placement is compulsory and any missed clinical placement time must be rectified as per CORU requirements.

Requirements, Exclusions and Recommendations
Learning Requirements:

Candidates must normally achieve at least 80% attendance at clinical placements, and must successfully complete relevant specified learning activities before taking the end of module assessment.
Candidates not achieving the requisite attendance stated above must, before completing the module and its assessments, undertake such clinical placement as is considered necessary to address the deficit.
Candidates who do not complete the module placements within the prescribed clinical placement period will be scheduled for Clinical Recovery Placements to facilitate students in the completion of the clinical placement requirements. The Clinical Recovery Placements will be scheduled in agreement with supervising Practice Tutors within the clinical environment, which may involve clinical placement during the summer months. Progression to the next stage is not normally allowed if the clinical modules identified in each stage of the programme are not completed prior to the start of the next academic session. For Stage 4 students graduation may be delayed until clinical recovery placements are completed.
