OVERVIEW
The aims of this module are to
1. to scaffold students' transition to university level study skills.
2. to facilitate students' understanding of professional concepts related to becoming competent Radiographers..




About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the module, students should show understanding of:

The history of Radiography as a profession;
HSE, hospital, and radiology department structures;
Key concepts of working in a clinical environment, e.g., ID, GDPR, consent and legislation, Health and Safety, Duty of care, etc.
The key features of professionalism and their application to clinical practice;
The medico-legal context of clinical practice;
The need for critical study as the basis for evidence-based professional practice.;
Key concepts in the use of electronic resources to find peer-reviewed information, plagiarism, AI, and referencing in third-level writing;
The concept of reflection and how to produce a piece of reflective writing.




Indicative Module Content:

The indicative curricular content relates to three main topics:

1. Professional skills and information for the clinical radiography context that students will encounter in Trimester 2
2. The importance of evidence-based practice in healthcare and sourcing appropriate information
3. Reflection and the introduction of reflective writing
