This module is a Level 4 module that is core for the Masters in Agricultural Extension and Innovation. This module uses a combination of skills development and reflective practice to enable and support the student to reflect, review and analyse their approaches to working with farmer groups and other group situations. The module requires the student to explore theoretical concepts relevant to peer to peer learning; group
dynamics, development and facilitation, and to use these in reflecting on their professional practice and development.

Learning Outcomes:

• Understanding of the theories of group formation, development and dynamics
• Understanding of the role of the facilitator in supporting group processes
• Effective facilitation of farmer discussion groups to support peer-to-peer learning
• Strategies and approaches for engagement in groups
• Enhanced confidence and self-awareness in the role of facilitator and identification of skill areas for further development
• Evaluation of facilitation techniques and running groups
