On completion of this course participants will be able to:
explain the critical role of communications;
formulate the theory of human communications processes;
design a strategic communications campaign;
plan, prepare and deliver effective presentations;
plan, prepare and implement one-to-one communication / consultations;
write effective project proposals and reports;
lead group processes and facilitate meetings;
analyse the role of the media in development and script and present items for radio.

Lecture presentations: Verbal feedback will be given immediately after the student presentation. The lecture presentation will be video recorded, the video will be played back and the presenter and other students will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of each presentation. Written feedback summarising the verbal feedback will be provided in a timely manner afterwards. Written assignment: Individual feedback on each essay to each student within 20 days of submitting the essay. Group feedback and discussion with class after each essay assessed. Group work assignment: feedback individually post assessment
