RDEV20030 Applied Economic Analysis

This stage 2 module is designed to equip students with the tools and skills necessary to analyse the operation of the agri-food economy in a national and global context. Students will gain insights into the structure and driving forces of food markets; develop their capacity to analyse producer, consumer and market behaviour as it applies to the sector and assess the implications of agricultural, trade and environmental policy for the agri-food sector and the wider economy.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Fundamental understanding of microeconomic concepts and theory
2. Analyse the structure and performance of agri-food markets
3. Apply the tools of economic analysis to model producer and consumer behaviour in relation to agri-food markets.
4. Identify and evaluate the impacts of agricultural, trade and environmental policy on agri-food markets and the wider economy.
