The module takes the form of an overview of the food system in an Irish and European context. It introduces students to the range of actors engaged in the food chain in Ireland such as farmers, food companies, supermarkets and consumers, and specifies the relationships between them.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:· Identify the various roles and contributions of the different actors in the agri-food system in Ireland. · Describe the impact of relevant key historic and current trends on the operation and development of the sector.· Identify the key areas of policy in Ireland and Europe which impact upon the operation and development of the sector.
