PSYC40260 Personal Professional Development and Integration (PPDI) Y3

Academic Year 2023/2024

This is a 2.5 credit module, which will occur in Autumn and Spring Trimesters. It will comprise 26 meetings of 1 hour each on a weekly basis throughout the two trimesters. Students will meet in a small group with a Faculty Supervisor. The focus of the module work will be on exploring the connection between, and the mutual shaping of stories from students professional practice and stories from their own personal lives. Student learning from this module requires that it run in parallel with Modules III and IV, which also occurs over two trimesters.

Learning Outcomes:

The students will acquire an expanded range of personal and cultural knowledge arising from reflection upon the connection between their own life experience and their experiences of professional practice. Additionally, students will learn about the way in which this ethical character of therapeutic practice is shaped by the centrality of such reflection. Students will also be assisted to make connections between the ethics of professional practice and the ethics of research on professional practice.
