PSYC40030 Retrospective Supervision Y3

Academic Year 2023/2024

This is a 5 credit module which will occur in Spring. The module requires students to work directly with clients outside of the training programme and to bring this work for consultation and supervision on a retrospective basis to a Clinical Supervisor. Video and audio recordings of students clinical work will be an important aspect of this module. The format of the module will require each student to work independently with clients for 65 hours and to take part in retrospective supervision meetings, both individual and group.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students will show: (1) A developing ability for independent clinical practice with clients and the variety of systems to which they belong. (2) A developing ability for self-reflexive practice in the context of their own professional settings. (3) A developing ability for effective use of the resources available within a specific supervisory relationship.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
The format of the module will require each student to work independently with clients for 65 hours and to take part in 16 hours of retrospective supervision, 12 hours of individual supervision and 4 hours of group supervision.
