Qualitative research methods have the potential to make a significant contribution to research that aims to understand human behaviour. The aim of this course is to refresh postgraduate students' knowledge of the core principles of qualitative research and allow them to critically evaluate common approaches to qualitative design and analysis. Formal skills training in one widely used method of analysis is provided. This module is suitable for postgraduate students from a range of disciplines and for those with limited experience of qualitative research. Please note this module consists of three half day seminars (two pre-recorded and one line) which take place in June/July.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module is structured as a series of seminars, where students are given an overview of the seminar material, being encouraged to work though the key topics with a focus on their application to their own postgraduate research. Discussion is central to supporting students to reflect on challenges and solutions and apply these issues to their own research. Students share their experience of engaging with the debates in their own area/topic with their peers.
