This module provides an overview of common psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, childhood disorders and personality disorders. This overview includes material on clinical examples, clinical features, classifciation, epidemology, aetiology and treatment. This is also a focus on protective factors and positive psychology.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module students will be able to (1) Describe and understand clinical features of common psychological problems; (2) show an understanding of classification, epidemology, aetiology, treatment, and service provision for common psychological disorders; and (3) explain the role of protective factors in promoting wellbeing.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
In autumn 2021/22 PSY 21070 will be a blended learning module

For this modules students will attend 10 two-hour lectures and engage in 120 - 125 hours of autonomous learning doing required and supplementary reading, and watching audiovisual material.
