This module will be focused on the Social and Cultural Production of Knowledge
in Systemic Practice. This module will take place in the Autumn and Spring
Trimesters and will comprise five seminars of 2 hours duration each. The
learning will occur in fortnightly lectures/seminars and will be based on relevant
prescribed readings. In this module students will be invited to think about ways in
which the full range of practice frameworks within the systemic family therapy
tradition have their basis in Social and Cultural Contexts. Students will revisit and
re-examine several key readings within the tradition from this perspective. The
module will also focus on the ethical underpinnings of both knowledge
production and knowledge use in Systemic Psychotherapy practice

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students will have:
● The ability to effectively manage the complexities of ethical clinical
practice.
● An ability to identify the social, cultural, and contextual influences on the
production of theoretical knowledge.
● The capacity to identify, describe and integrate contextual influences on
clinical and theoretical issues.

Indicative Module Content:
