On this module students:
1. complete a coherent 7,500 word dissertation on a topic in the field of Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis
2. use the task to address the question: what is it to practice psychoanalytically?
3. show evidence of how their own experience of psychoanalysis, clinical practice and supervision informs their close reading of a text / texts from the field of Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis
This is a 7,500 word dissertation on a topic in Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis chosen by the student and agreed by the programme. It is an opportunity for the student to research a specific text in the psychoanalytic literature in close detail through close reading. This piece of research addresses the question: what is it to practice psychoanalytically?
Students read and learn from the discussion of writing in the psychoanalytic literature.
Students attend tutorials on dissertation writing
Students work with a dissertation supervisor for up to 6 sessions or equivalent

• Feedback individually to students, on an activity or draft prior to summative assessment
Each student works with individual dissertation supervisor up to 6 sessions or equivalent in correspondence. The students attend 3 tutorial sessions on writing a dissertation in accordance with the principles of Freudian - Lacanian psychoanalysis
