PSCO40150 Psychoanalytic Clinical Paper

Academic Year 2023/2024

The writing of the 5,000 word clinical paper is an exercise in which you write on the question of what it is to practice psychoanalytically. In other words, the task is to specify the particularity of psychoanalytic practice. The strategy for this is a familiar one:
You identify a question arising from your practice
Select a text or two from the psychoanalytic literature which you believe will assist you in responding to the question
Provide a close reading of the text
Indicate how it has a relevance for your clinical practice
A reader of your Clinical Paper must be very clear that it has been written by a psychoanalytic practitioner with a clinical question about their practice. It is in the hands of the writer of the paper how to represent this crucial aspect.
